Phil's violent rage scores nearly 8.9m for 'EastEnders'

EastEnders remained the most popular soap on Thursday evening as Phil went on another violent spree in Albert Square, according to overnight viewing data.

The BBC One soap appealed to 8.86m (38.9%) from 7.30pm, as Phil went on the rampage following Ben's allegation against Christian. A further 708k (3.6%) saw BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

Coronation Street was Thursday's second-most popular soap, averaging 8.13m (31.9%) for ITV1 from 8.30pm, as Lloyd realised that Chris was not telling the truth about his condition. An additional 177k (0.7%) watched the episode on ITV1+1.

Emmerdale grabbed 7.5m (34.2%) on ITV1 from 7pm for Cain's attempt to rile John by boasting how he'd slept with Moira. The rural soap again pulled in 7.5m (31.1%) for its second showing and 155K (0.6%) on +1 as Moira's world crumbled when John confronted her over the affair.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks had 1.34m (6.3%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm. E4's exclusive Jason and Bart special appealed to 615k (2.8%) from 7pm.

BBC One's Doctors entertained 1.7m (23.8%) from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 690k (9.6%) on Channel 5, along with 1.29m (7.7%) from 5.30pm.

Also on Channel 5, Home and Away appealed to 962k (4.9%) from 6pm, and 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 511k (2.4%) from 6.30pm.
