E4's first look showing of Hollyoaks pulled in nearly 750k on Monday night with the aftermath of Mercedes and Riley's nuptials, while Coronation Street blitzed EastEnders in the ratings battle, according to overnight audience data.
The Channel 4 soap was seen by 748k (3.4%) on E4 from 7pm, around 300k more than usual for 'first look' episodes on the channel. A further 107k (0.4%) tuned in on +1.
Earlier, Mercedes' confession at the altar that she'd slept with Riley's dad Carl was seen by 1.33m (6.4%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, and 101k (0.4%) an hour later.
ITV1's
Coronation Street averaged 9.34m (40%) from 7.30pm and 109k (0.4%) on +1 for Carla's decision to sack some of the factory staff. The soap was seen by 9.21m (36.6%) from 8.30pm and 165k (0.7%) on +1 as Sally started working for evil Frank.
EastEnders appealed to 8.23m (32.5%) on BBC One from 8pm, as Syed was finally introduced to his baby Yasmin. A further 800k (4%) caught BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

Emmerdale, Cain's brutal attack on Zack was watched by 7.42m (33.6%) on ITV1 from 7pm and 107k (0.5%) on +1.
Elsewhere,
Doctors averaged 1.76m (22.5%) for BBC One from 1.45pm, while
Neighbours had 772k (9.8%) on Channel 5. Neighbours also fetched 1.15m (7.2%) for its repeat from 5.30pm.
Home And Away managed 866k (4.6%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 530k (2.5%).
