Ratings: 'EastEnders' nabs 7.4m with Patrick, Phil tension

EastEnders remained the most popular soap on Thursday evening as Phil continued to victimise Patrick, according to overnight viewing data.

EastEnders appealed to 7.42m (36%) on BBC One from 7.30pm, as the situation between Patrick and Phil became the talk of Albert Square. A further 609k (3.2%) saw BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

Coronation Street averaged 7.2m (30.4%) for ITV1 from 8.30pm, as Carla decided she should could no longer face the world and made a suicide attempt. An additional 192k (0.8%) watched the episode on ITV1+1.

Rural soap Emmerdale grabbed 5.93m (32.1%) on ITV1 from 7pm and 116k (0.5%) on +1, as Chas was taken aback to see blood on Aaron's shirt. Aaron's decision to make it clear to Chas that he won't stop hurting himself was seen by 6.24m (28.4%) on ITV1 from 8pm and 216k (0.9%) on +1.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks had 790k (4.6%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm and 140k (0.7%) on +1. E4's first look at the next episode appealed to 339k (1.8%) from 7pm.

Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.37m (24.8%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 645k (11.5%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 874k (6.7%) from 5.30pm.

Home And Away appealed to 644k (4.2%) on Channel 5 from 6pm, and 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 427k (2.5%) from 6.30pm.
