Ratings: 'EastEnders' nabs 7.4m with Kat's shock pregnancy

Kat's pregnancy surprise helped EastEnders remain the most popular soap on Thursday evening, according to overnight viewing data.

EastEnders appealed to 7.41m (36.3%) on BBC One from 7.30pm, as Kat was left stunned when Yusef told her that she is expecting another baby. A further 624k (2.9%) saw BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

Coronation Street averaged 7.34m (31.4%) for ITV1 from 8.30pm for Kylie's questioning by the social worker as she attempted to get Max back. An additional 192k (0.8%) watched the episode on ITV1+1.

Rural soap Emmerdale grabbed 6.17m (33.7%) on ITV1 from 7pm, as Charity's determination to win back Jai pushed her into a marriage proposal. Charity's delight after Jai agreed to marry her was seen by 6.61m (30.7%) from 8pm and 149k (1.6%) on timeshift.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks had 930k (5.5%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm. E4's first look at the next episode appealed to 372k (2%) from 7pm.

Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.47m (20.9%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 588k (8.2%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 889k (6.8%) from 5.30pm.
