EastEnders did not overtake Coronation Street as Britain's most popular soap last night, despite the much-anticipated fall out from Max and Tanya's affair.
Vanessa's fury and Max's subsequent departure from the Square was seen by 7.61m (35.2%), while Coronation Street's 7.30pm episode grabbed 7.63m (36.9%) and 117k on ITV1 +1.
The Weatherfield serial could only muster 7.41m (33.3%) when it returned at 8.30pm, but added 256k on timeshift.
Elsewhere, Emmerdale logged 6.04m (31.1%), while Doctors averaged 1.69m (19.8%). Neighbours had 656k (7.7%) at 1.45pm and a further 1.07m (7.5%) at 5.30pm, and Hollyoaks attracted 940k (5.3%) - as well as an impressive 557k (2.9%) for E4's first look.
