After Izzy's mugging was seen by 7.41m (36.8%) at 7.30pm (+1: 103k) for ITV1, Gary's subsequent meltdown fetched the biggest soap audience of the day with 7.93m (34.7%) at 8.30pm (+1: 150k).
Over on BBC One, 7.43m (34.7%) watched Ian Beale's comical attempt to kiss Denise in EastEnders at 8pm (692k on BBC Three at 10pm), while Doctors averaged 1.58m (20.5%) for an instalment titled 'Glad Rags'.
Declan's attempts to stop Mia leaving in Emmerdale gripped 6.15m (32.7%) at 7pm (+1: 107k), while Hollyoaks appealed to 882k (5.1%) at 6.30pm (+1: 147k) and a further 465k (2.5%) for E4's first look.
Elsewhere, Neighbours mustered 710k (9.2%) at 1.45pm and 1.1m (8%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away pulled in 820k (5.1%) and 401k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at the next episode.
