Coronation Street neared the 8m mark on Friday evening, topping the soap ratings.



Leanne's fall - and subsequent miscarriage - were seen by 7.37m (38.2%) at 7.30pm and 7.75m (34.3%) at 8.30pm (+1: 197k).

EastEnders pulled in 7.01m (34.3%) for Billy's fury at Julie over granddaughter Lola. BBC Three's 10pm repeat added 629k (3.3%).

Emmerdale picked up 6.08m (33.9%) as Hazel's mourning over Jackson worried Chas and Aaron, while Hollyoaks logged 872k (5.2%) and E4's first look fetched 368k (2%).

Elsewhere, Doctors averaged 1.15m (17.4%), beating the lunchtime edition of Neighbours, which had 648k (9.7%). The Aussie soap added 1.1m (7.9%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away took 748k (4.7%) and 445k (2.7%) for 5*'s first look.
