Pam St Clement to quit EastEnders after more than 25 years

Eastenders icon Pam St Clement is hanging up her dangly earrings and quitting the soap after 25 years.



Pam, who plays brassy man-eater Pat Evans, is to leave the show in a sensational Christmas storyline after not renewing her contract.

She told friends on set she has “had enough” of the soap and wants to travel more while she is still young enough.

Asked how she wanted Pat, who’s been married four times, to leave she joked: “Pat is so loose, I’d like to see her join a convent.”

It’s thought she wanted to quit after many of her closest friends on the show, including Barbara Windsor, left in recent years.

Pam, 69, said: “I have enjoyed 25-and-a-half wonderful years in EastEnders, creating the character of Pat – but I feel it’s time for her to hang up her earrings.
