Coronation Street rose to the 8 million mark with the soap's dramatic fire scenes on Wednesday evening (May 27), overnight figures show.
8.01m (35.9%) tuned in at 9pm on ITV and 355k (2.0%) on +1 as Leanne and Kal found themselves trapped in the burning Victoria Court building while trying to rescue Amy.
The stunt scenes helped Corrie to achieve its best rating since January 26, which was also the last time the show was above 8 million.
Earlier, Emmerdale attracted 5.52m (31.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 148k (0.7%) on +1 as Jai continued to torment Rachel.
Neighbours entertained 562k (8.6%) at 1.45pm and 732k (5.7%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Amber came clean to Josh over the baby situation.
Hollyoaks claimed 632k (3.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Nico left Sienna for dead, while E4's first look followed with 557k (3.2%) at 7pm and 101k (0.5%) on +1.
Doctors appealed to 1.25m (19.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One with an episode centring around Al and Niamh.
