EastEnders was Thursday's most-watched programme (April 16) with the surprise exit of Aleks Shirovs, overnight figures show.
6.44m (34.5%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One as Aleks made a hasty departure from Walford after his dodgy dealings were uncovered by Tamwar. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 324k (2.4%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale attracted 5.48m (31.6%) at 7pm on ITV and 171k (0.8%) on +1 as Emma spilled the beans to Chas about her one-night stand with James, while 5.27m (26.2%) returned at 8pm and 263k (1.2%) on +1 for the dramatic fallout.
Hollyoaks brought in 983k (6.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 122k (0.7%) on +1 for Zöe Lucker's first appearance as Reenie McQueen, while E4's first look followed with 586k (3.4%) at 7pm.
Neighbours managed 593k (10.6%) at 1.45pm and 660k (5.3%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 with Sheila's concerns over Naomi and Paul.
Home and Away entertained 213k (3.8%) at 1.15pm and 516k (3.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look claimed 371k (2.3%) at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.08m (19.3%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
