6.6m see Bethany's return in Friday's Coronation Street

Coronation Street topped the soap ratings on Friday evening (March 20) with Bethany Platt's return to Weatherfield, overnight figures show.

Corrie was the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 6.59m (34.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 92k (0.4%) on +1 as Bethany arrived back on the cobbles and convinced Andy to buy her a drink at the Rovers Return. 5.87m (26.7%) returned at 8.30pm and 184k (0.9%) on +1 as Bethany continued to cause a stir at the pub.

EastEnders was ahead of the second Corrie, claiming 6.33m (30.9%) at 8pm on BBC One with Donna's eventful birthday party at The Vic. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 315k (2.2%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 5.61m (31.3%) at 7pm on ITV and 130k (0.6%) on +1 as Chrissie did the right thing by turning Lachlan in to the police.

Hollyoaks interested 824k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Robbie attacked Dirk, while E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 665k (3.7%) at 7pm.

Neighbours entertained 642k (10.1%) at 1.45pm and 763k (5.7%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Madge's return storyline continued.

Home and Away mustered 237k (3.7%) at 1.15pm and 554k (3.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 374k (2.2%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.42m (22.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
