Corrie was the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 7.04m (33.4%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 182k (0.8%) on +1 as Gail gave into the real Gavin's blackmail threats by promising to pay him £2,500 for his silence.

Emmerdale claimed an identical rating to Tuesday, once again attracting 6.14m (32.0%) at 7pm on ITV as Bob's estranged daughter Carly Hope returned. 207k (1.0%) caught up on +1 an hour later.

EastEnders was dented badly by airing outside of its usual day and timeslot, dipping to 5.47m (24.9%) at 8.30pm on BBC One as Kat had second thoughts over taking Harry's money - the show's lowest rating of the year so far. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 344k (3.6%) at 11pm.

Neighbours continued to receive a boost in the build-up to its 30th anniversary, achieving its best lunchtime figure of 2015 as 777k (11.0%) tuned in for Hilary Robinson's return at 1.45pm. 843k (5.7%) watched the teatime screening at 5.30pm.

Hollyoaks' Channel 4 figure remained lower than usual as 763k (4.3%) saw Diane targeted by the Gloved Hand Killer in the show's traditional 6.30pm timeslot, although E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 701k (3.7%) at 7pm and 140k (0.7%) on +1.

Home and Away grabbed 294k (4.2%) at 1.15pm and 623k (3.7%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 391k (2.2%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.46m (20.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
