Monday ratings: EastEnders, Corrie stay close with 7.8m

EastEnders and Coronation Street remained neck-and-neck in the soap ratings on Monday evening (March 2), overnight figures show.

EastEnders was the most-watched show of the day on first-run showings, bringing in 7.77m (33.6%) at 8pm on BBC One as Nancy continued to struggle with her suspicions over Dean's fate. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 247k (1.9%) at 10.30pm.

Coronation Street attracted 7.74m (36.1%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 108k (0.5%) on +1 as the real Gavin Rodwell returned from his travels. The audience increased to 7.76m (33.6%) at 8.30pm and 158k (0.7%) on +1 as impostor Andy panicked over his friend's return.

Emmerdale interested 6.87m (34.2%) at 7pm on ITV and 108k (0.5%) on +1 as Chrissie's delusions over Lachlan led to a public row with Alicia and David.

Waterloo Road's penultimate episode entertained 610k (2.7%) at 8.30pm on BBC Three, while BBC One's repeat screening secured 664k (8.2%) at 10.55pm.

Hollyoaks claimed 933k (4.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Robbie confessed his feelings for Nancy, while E4's first look followed with 676k (3.4%) at 7pm.

Neighbours had a decent day on Channel 5, rising to 726k (10.1%) at 1.45pm and 924k (6.2%) at 5.30pm as Naomi questioned the nature of her relationship with Brennan.

Home and Away's bus crash aftermath grabbed 210k (2.9%) at 1.15pm and 612k (3.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look continued to be boosted by the dramatic storyline with 550k (2.9%) tuning in at 6.30pm - a 12-month high for the multichannel airing.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.65m (23.0%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
