Coronation Street topped a low-rating night for the soaps on New Year's Eve, overnight figures show.
5.87m (28.9%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 236k (1.2%) on +1 as Gary tried to make amends for his recent mistakes.
Emmerdale attracted 5m (25.0%) at 7pm on ITV and 229k (1.2%) on +1 as the Dingles discovered that Belle had been taking legal highs.
Airing after the two soaps, Rita and Me - an hour-long documentary paying tribute to Coronation Street's Barbara Knox - managed 2.55m (13.5%) at 8pm on ITV and 105k (0.6%) on +1.
Hollyoaks dipped to 549k (2.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as the Roscoes had an explosive New Year's Eve in an hour-long special, while 335k (1.6%) saw one of the village's residents killed off on E4's first look at the later time of 7.30pm.
