Emmerdale was the most-watched soap on Tuesday evening (September 2) with its hour-long episode, overnight figures show.
5.33m (28.5%) tuned in at 7pm on ITV and 282k (1.4%) on +1 as Andy proposed to Katie following a day of big mishaps.
EastEnders suffered a dip due to the clash with Emmerdale and the rival soap's head-start, bringing in 4.65m (23.7%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Ryan made a surprise reappearance in Walford. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 539k (3.8%) at 10.30pm.
During the 30-minute clash period itself, Emmerdale had 5.05m (25.8%).
Meanwhile, Holby City rose to its highest rating since May 6 as 4.26m (21.2%) watched the latest episode at 8pm on BBC One.
Hollyoaks attracted 860k (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as tensions ran high on the day of Finn's first court appearance, while E4's first look followed with 817k (4.6%) at 7pm and 112k (0.6%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 623k (9.9%) at 1.45pm and 807k (6.4%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away claimed 221k (3.3%) at 1.15pm, 591k (4.0%) at 6pm and 347k (2.1%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.3m (20.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
