Emmerdale claims 5.3m with Adam drugs plot on Thursday

Emmerdale was Thursday evening's most-watched soap (July 31) with Adam Barton's drug collapse, overnight figures show.

5.29m (30.1%) tuned in at 7pm on ITV and 125k (0.6%) on +1 as desperate Adam stole drugs from village vet Vanessa in order to make some cash, while 5.15m (26.2%) returned at 8pm and 250k (1.2%) on +1 to see the disastrous consequences after he and Robbie had decided to take the supply themselves.

EastEnders attracted 4.6m (24.6%) at 7.30pm on BBC Two as Aunt Babe scared Shirley into thinking that she might reveal her secret. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 421k (2.9%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks interested 780k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 127k (0.7%) on +1 as Patrick denied everything after the revelations at the wedding reception, while E4's first look followed with 741k (4.2%) at 7pm and 266k (1.4%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 562k (8.2%) at 1.45pm and 633k (4.9%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 192k (2.6%) at 1.15pm, 504k (3.4%) at 6pm and 304k (1.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
