Coronation Street brings in 5.9m with Gail, Michael latest

Coronation Street was Thursday evening's top-rated soap (July 10) with more from the Gail and Michael storyline, overnight figures show.

Corrie pulled in 5.94m (29.4%) at 8.30pm on ITV and 209k (1.0%) on +1 as Michael managed to prove his innocence following Gail's doubts about him.

Emmerdale's emotional double bill bumped the show up to second spot, with 5.46m (32.3%) tuning in at 7pm on ITV as Marlon discovered the truth about Donna's terminal illness. The audience increased to 5.53m (28.9%) at 8pm and 206k (1.1%) on +1 as the tragic reality of the situation sunk in for Marlon.

EastEnders attracted 5.43m (30.3%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Mick and Linda's secret was revealed. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 288k (2.0%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks managed 776k (5.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Ste was arrested for Fraser's murder, while E4's first look followed with 682k (4.1%) at 7pm and 132k (0.7%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 563k (8.6%) at 1.45pm and 672k (5.8%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away grabbed 198k (3.0%) at 1.15pm, 492k (3.5%) at 6pm and 295k (2.0%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.25m (19.3%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
