Coronation Street topped Wednesday's soap ratings (July 9) with the latest developments in the Gail and Michael storyline, overnight figures show.

6.12m (34.3%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 318k (1.6%) on +1 as Gail began to doubt Michael's redemption as he mysteriously presented her with a brand new TV.

Emmerdale attracted 5.02m (30.6%) at 7pm on ITV and 200k (1.1%) on +1 as Andy threatened to sue the Bartons over his accident.

Airing away from its usual broadcast day, Holby City managed 3.24m (17.2%) at 8pm on BBC One.

Hollyoaks interested 792k (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 109k (0.6%) on +1 as John Paul finally told Ste the truth about his decision to hide the gun, while E4's first look secured 681k (4.2%) at 7pm and 241k (1.4%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 540k (9.3%) at 1.45pm and 744k (6.5%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 184k (3.1%) at 1.15pm, 503k (3.7%) at 6pm and 340k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.13m (19.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
