Coronation Street had its highest figure since February on Monday evening (April 7) as the Phelan blackmail story continued, overnight figures show.

8.61m (40.4%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV - the show's best rating since February 10 - and 133k (0.6%) on +1 as Owen considered committing arson to solve his problems with Phelan. 8.2m (34.8%) returned at 8.30pm and 180k (0.8%) on +1 as Anna stepped in to prevent Owen from making a terrible mistake.

EastEnders attracted 7.16m (31.3%) at 8pm on BBC One as Bianca jumped to the wrong conclusion about Terry and Whitney. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 341k (2.3%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale continued with 6.46m (33.2%) at 7pm on ITV as Priya suffered another health scare, adding 152k (0.7%) on +1.

Hollyoaks managed 909k (5.1%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 174k (0.8%) on +1 as Joe's reappearance shocked Freddie and Lindsey, while the aftermath helped E4's first look to top the day's multichannel ratings with 825k (4.3%) at 7pm and 193k (0.8%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Kate and Mark's reunion in Neighbours was shared with 671k (8.4%) at 1.45pm and 828k (5.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away grabbed 212k (2.5%) at 1.15pm, 573k (3.4%) at 6pm and 520k (2.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors also had its highest figure since February with 1.74m (21.9%) watching at 1.45pm on BBC One.
