Coronation Street topped the soap ratings with its hour-long episode on Monday evening (December 30), overnight figures show.

The latest visit to Weatherfield pulled in 8.82m (37.3%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 272k (1.1%) on +1 as Tina and Peter slept together while an emotional Carla was out visiting Hayley.

Emmerdale attracted 7.17m (31.4%) at 7pm on ITV and 181k (0.8%) on +1 as Charity continued to scheme in the aftermath of the fire.

EastEnders suffered a dip outside of its usual timeslot, appealing to 6.91m (27.9%) at 9pm on BBC One as Ronnie made a failed attempt to turn Roxy against Carl. However, BBC Three's repeat screening performed well with 602k (4.0%) at 10.50pm.

Hollyoaks interested 977k (4.8%) at 6pm on Channel 4 and 166k (0.7%) on +1 with the resolution of Grace's kidnap story, while Ruby's heart attack followed with 998k (4.6%) at 6.30pm and 179k (0.8%) on +1.

E4's first look airing of Hollyoaks had 579k (2.5%) at 7pm and 175k (0.7%) on +1.
