Emmerdale was Tuesday evening's (July 23) most-watched soap on first-run airings, overnight figures show.

The latest visit to the Dales, which saw Debbie tell Cameron that she nearly murdered Chas, brought in 5.14m (25.2%) at the rescheduled time of 7.30pm on ITV and 299k (1.4%) on +1.

Clashing with Emmerdale, EastEnders had 4.84m (23.7%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Ian threatened to report Bianca to the police. However, BBC Three's EastEnders repeat screening was boosted with 664k (4.3%) watching at 10.30pm.

Holby City entertained 4.68m (22.8%) at 8pm on BBC One as Chantelle insisted on returning to work.

Hollyoaks secured 775k (4.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Patrick's big launch went wrong, while E4's first look mustered 503k (2.6%) at 7pm and 176k (0.9%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours managed 661k (8.8%) at 1.45pm and 835k (6.3%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away grabbed 335k (4.2%) at 1.15pm, 519k (3.2%) at 6pm and 306k (1.7%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.36m (18.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
