'Coronation Street' tops Monday evening's soap ratings

Coronation Street was back above the nine million mark on Monday evening (December 10) with Peter and Carla's return episode, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap pulled in 9.07m (38.6%) at 7.30pm on ITV1 and 149k (0.6%) on +1 as the pair shocked Nick and Leanne with their unexpected arrival, while 8.85m (34.4%) returned at 8.30pm and 274k (1.1%) on +1 to see Peter and Carla clash over whether to stick around in Weatherfield.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 7.74m (31.3%) at 8pm on BBC One as Alfie continued to question Kat's honesty. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 427k (2.8%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 7.64m (34.5%) at 7pm as Katie and Declan's troubles rumbled on, adding 110k (0.4%) an hour later.

Hollyoaks managed 945k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 116k (0.5%) on +1 as Doug and Ste were at odds over whether to leave the village, while E4's first look had 489k (2.2%) at 7pm and 129k (0.5%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 590k (8.3%) at 1.45pm and 943k (5.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away entertained 787k (4.0%) at 6pm and 535k (2.5%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.45m (20.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
