Coronation Street tops Monday evening's soap ratings

Coronation Street topped the 9 million mark with Tina and Tommy's surrogacy dramas on Monday evening (October 29), overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap pulled in 9.03m (38.4%) at 7.30pm on ITV1 and 188k (0.7%) on +1 as Tommy made one last attempt to stop Tina from going through with her plan. Later, 8.85m (34.7%) returned at 8.30pm and 260k (1.0%) on +1 as Tina made her decision.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 8.03m (32.1%) at 8pm on BBC One as Carol and the kids arrived back in Walford for a visit. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 445k (2.9%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale appealed to 7.81m (34.9%) at 7pm on ITV1 as Cain and Charity vowed to take revenge against Cameron, adding 165k (0.7%) on +1.

Hollyoaks managed 977k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the fallout from Jono's decision to join the army, while E4's first look had 572k (2.6%) at 7pm and 132k (0.5%) an hour later.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 684k (8.0%) at 1.45pm and 969k (5.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 876k (4.4%) at 6pm and 437k (2.0%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.48m (17.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
