'Hollyoaks' shooting aftermath brings 816k to E4 on Tuesday

Hollyoaks' first look screening had its highest audience of the year on Tuesday evening (October 2) in the aftermath of Riley Costello's shock shooting, overnight figures show.

The teen soap pulled in 816k (4.0%) on E4 at 7pm as fans tuned in to see if Riley would survive after being shot by Walker.

Earlier, the shooting itself was seen by 1.1m (5.7%) in the traditional 6.30pm slot on Channel 4.

EastEnders was the most-watched soap of the day, attracting 7.64m (34.5%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as Alfie struggled to trust Kat following their return to the Square. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 610k (4.2%) at 10.30pm.

Also on BBC One, Holby City entertained 5.02m (20.6%) at 8pm with Hanssen's hostage drama.

Emmerdale, meanwhile, interested 6.86m (33.2%) at 7pm on ITV1 and 245k (1.0%) on +1 as Ashley decided that Gabby should live with him.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 704k (9.9%) at 1.45pm and 1.01m (6.5%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 723k (4.0%) at 6pm and 473k (2.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors mustered 1.35m (19.0%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
