Ratings: 'Coronation Street' grabs 9m on Easter Monday

Coronation Street topped the Easter Monday (April 9) soap ratings with 9m viewers, overnight figures show.

Coronation Street pulled in 8.88m (36.5%) at 7.30pm and 130k (0.5%) on +1 as Stella battled to keep The Rovers, while Karl's passionate encounter with Sunita was seen by 9.01m (34.5%) at 8.30pm and 239k (0.9%) on timeshift.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 8.17m (32.5%) at 8pm as Shirley was forced to say goodbye to George. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 707k (3.4%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale interested 6.64m (29.1%) at 7pm and 111k (0.4%) on +1 as Zak was taken to hospital, while Hollyoaks managed 970k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 374k (1.6%) for E4's first look at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 786k (6.6%) at 1.10pm and 899k (4.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 780k (3.7%) at 6pm and 562k (2.6%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
