'Coronation Street' Peter, Leanne split seen by 8.9m

Coronation Street put in another strong performance on Thursday evening as Leanne and Peter's marriage broke down, overnight figures show.

Coronation Street attracted 8.94m (35.5%) at 8.30pm and 261k (1.2%) on ITV1+1 as Peter told a heartbroken Leanne that he wanted to be with Carla.

EastEnders, meanwhile, pulled in 8.82m (38.7%) at 7.30pm as the Moon family's troubles with Derek Branning escalated. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 824k (4.3%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale entertained 7.77m (35.0%) at 7pm for Rodney's appearance in court, while the next developments in the storyline grabbed 7.96m (33.8%) at 8pm and 196k (0.8%) on +1.

George and Phoebe's terrifying ordeal on Hollyoaks was seen by 967k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4, while E4's first look mustered 638k (2.9%) at 7pm and 146k (0.6%) on timeshift.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours managed 686k (9.1%) at 1.45pm and 1.06m (6.4%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away had 664k (3.4%) at 6pm and 554k (2.6%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'The Next Level' - took 1.68m (22.5%) on BBC One at 1.45pm.
