Silas's night of terror scores for 'Hollyoaks' on E4

The Silas murder plot helped E4's first look Hollyoaks thrive on Thursday evening, while EastEnders lost out to Coronation Street as the top rating soap, according to overnight viewing data.

Hollyoaks was seen by 715k (3.3%) on E4 from 7pm and 138k (0.6%) on +1, as Silas tellingly dressed as the Grim Reaper for Fright Night at Chez Chez.

The previous episode, featuring Silas's new clue setting up a number of characters as potential victims, appealed to 1.2m (5.9%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm and 104k (0.5%) on timeshift.

Coronation Street was the top soap of the night, attracting 8.01m (33.9%) for ITV1 from 8.30pm and 233k (1%) on ITV1+1, as things went horribly wrong for John after Kevin rescued Rosie.

On BBC One, EastEnders appealed to 7.91m (35.1%) from 7.30pm for <="" a="">Yusef's attempt to manipulate Christian, while Pat sent Norman packing. A further 683k (3.4%) saw BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

Emmerdale grabbed 6.98m (32%) on ITV1 from 7pm as Moira and Cain shared an unexpected kiss. The rural soap pulled in 7.07m (33.2%) on ITV1 from 8pm and 218k (1%) on +1 for Moira's guilt after she cheated on John with Cain.

Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.48m (18.8%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 656k (8.3%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 1.08m (6.9%) from 5.30pm.

Home and Away appealed to 824k (4.5%) on Channel 5 from 6pm, and 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 517k (2.5%) from 6.30pm.
