Ratings: Lola debut delivers 7.7m on 'EastEnders'

The arrival of new character Lola on EastEnders helped the BBC One soap stay close to 8 million viewers on Tuesday evening, the latest audience data has revealed.

EastEnders was seen by 7.68m (37.5%) from 7.30pm, as Billy and Julie came face-to-face with their tearaway granddaughter Lola. The repeat screening fetched 1.04m (5%) on BBC Three from 10pm.

Also on BBC One, Holby City grabbed 5.31m (24.9%) in the 8pm hour for the episode 'Hand In Glove', featuring Dan's attempt to keep the truth hidden, while Michael set out to prove his worth.

Emmerdale was watched by 5.84m (30.9%) on ITV1 from 7pm and 186k (0.9%) on +1, as David discovered Leyla's stunt with Jacob's phone and ordered her to fix the situation.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks appealed to 860k (4.9%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before E4's first look at the next episode mustered 433k (2.3%) from 7pm and 101k (0.5%) on E4+1.

Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.41m (20.4%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 752k (10.8%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 1.2m (9%) from 5.30pm.

Home and Away fetched 866k (5.3%) from 6pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode entertained 425k (2.4%) from 6.30pm.
