Kevin, Sophie tension keeps 'Coronation Street' above 8m

Tension between Kevin and Sophie kept Coronation Street well above 8m viewers on Monday evening, according to overnight audience data.

ITV1's flagship soap averaged 8.41m (40.9%) from 7.30pm and 118k (0.5%) on +1 as Kevin considered turning against Sophie over the money. Kevin's tense meeting with the police about the fraud was watched by 8.68m (37.6%) from 8.30pm and 167k (0.7%) on timeshift.

EastEnders appealed to 7.98m (36.2%) on BBC One from 8pm, as Billy and Julie headed off to see their son, but faced a surprise. A further 990k (5%) caught BBC Three's repeat screening from 10pm.

On Emmerdale, 6.44m (35.2%) tuned in on ITV1 from 7pm, as Nicola was left stunned when she discovered what was going on between Jimmy and Gennie.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks managed 910k (5.4%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before E4's first look at the next episode pulled in 384k (2.1%).

Earlier, Doctors had 1.32m (20.1%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours entertained 755k (11.5%) on Channel 5. The Aussie soap's repeat screening fetched 1.11m (8.5%) from 5.30pm.

Home and Away took 923k (5.9%) on Channel 5 from 6pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode entertained 532k (3.1%) from 6.30pm.
