Ratings: Stella's Rovers debut nabs 8m on 'Corrie'

The arrival of Stella at Coronation Street's Rovers Return pulled in almost 8 million viewers on Friday evening, the latest audience data has revealed.

Coronation Street averaged 7.94m (37.6%) for ITV1 from 7.30pm, as a new era began at The Rovers with Stella moving into the pub. Roy and Hayley's desperate attempts to persuade Becky to return home mustered 8.01m (34.1%) from8.30pm, along with 232k (1.1%) on ITV1+1.

Also on ITV1, Emmerdale grabbed 6.51m (33.5%) from 7pm, as things went from bad to worse for Rhona and Paddy as they argued over Aaron and Chas.

EastEnders brought in 7.74m (34.1%) on BBC One from 8pm for Max's pursuit of Tanya at his own engagement party. BBC Three's repeat screening added 553k (2.8%) from 10pm.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks managed 940k (5.2%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before E4's first look at the next episode grabbed 386k (2%) at 7pm.

Earlier in the day, Neighbours had 770k (10.2%) on Channel 5 from 1.45pm before the 5.30pm repeat fetched 1.09m (7.5%).

Home and Away scored 812k (4.7%) at 6pm, while 5*'s first look at the next episode appealed to 530k (2.9%).
