Stan's big setback seen by 6.3m on Thursday's EastEnders

EastEnders was Thursday's most-watched programme (April 9) with Stan Carter's penultimate episode, overnight figures show.

6.31m (34.7%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One as Stan and Cora's wedding plans were thwarted due to his declining health. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 391k (2.6%) in the slightly earlier slot of 10.20pm.

Emmerdale continued with 5.58m (33.1%) at 7pm on ITV as Robert hired a hitman to kill Chas, while 5.05m (25.6%) returned at 8pm and 247k (1.2%) on +1 as Chas had her second close call of the week thanks to Robert calling off the hit.

Hollyoaks managed 638k (4.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 107k (0.6%) on +1 with the aftermath of Grace's arrest, while E4's first look followed with 475k (2.8%) at 7pm and 155k (0.8%) on +1.

Neighbours brought in 589k (10.5%) at 1.45pm and 614k (5.5%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 with the Turner family's grief following Matt's death.

Home and Away mustered 180k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 551k (4.1%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 386k (2.6%) at 6.30pm.
