Coronation Street and Emmerdale were both dented by Comic Relief in Friday evening's soap ratings (March 13), overnight figures show.
Corrie pulled in 6.27m (28.8%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 170k (0.7%) on +1 with Gavin Rodwell's sudden death, while 5.32m (22.5%) returned at 8.30pm and 261k (1.1%) on +1 to see the fallout for Gail, Andy and Steph.
Emmerdale managed 5.4m (27.0%) at 7pm on ITV and 153k (0.7%) on +1 as Vanessa broke up with Kirin after her health scare.
Hollyoaks appealed to 719k (4.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Sinead agreed to keep quiet about the switched at birth secret, while E4's first look secured 471k (2.4%) at 7pm and 101k (0.5%) on +1.
Neighbours entertained 728k (9.6%) at 1.45pm and 714k (4.9%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Bailey tried to make amends for his recent mistake.
Home and Away interested 288k (4.0%) at 1.15pm and 600k (3.6%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 359k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.33m (17.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
