Grimshaw trouble seen by 7.8m on Wednesday Coronation Street

Coronation Street put in another good performance on Wednesday evening (January 28) with the start of Todd Grimshaw's latest nasty plan, overnight figures show.

Corrie was the most-watched programme of the day, attracting 7.76m (36.6%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 273k (1.2%) on +1 as Todd spied an opportunity to cause trouble when he spotted Tony comforting Eva following her row with Jason.

Emmerdale brought in 6.63m (32.9%) at 7pm on ITV and 188k (0.9%) on +1 as Megan and Jai reunited and Pete shared the Bartons' dark family history with Debbie.

Hollyoaks entertained 870k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Lindsey came out fighting for Freddie, while E4's first look followed with 711k (3.5%) at 7pm and 185k (0.9%) on +1.

Neighbours appealed to 673k (8.9%) at 1.45pm and 765k (4.8%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as the Sonya and Erin storyline continued.

Home and Away managed 235k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 494k (2.7%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 384k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.69m (22.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
