'Coronation Street' tops Friday soap ratings with sofa saga

Coronation Street was Friday's most-watched soap (December 5) as the Websters' sofa saga continued, overnight figures show.

6.95m (35.1%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV as the estranged wife of the sofa seller tried to get the expensive item back from Kevin, while 6.78m (31.0%) returned at 8.30pm and 110k (0.5%) on +1 as Kevin found himself entangled in a web of lies over the situation.

EastEnders attracted 6.25m (29.6%) at 8pm on BBC One as Sonia's secret was revealed and James Bye made his first appearance as the new Martin Fowler. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 332k (2.1%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 5.76m (30.8%) at 7pm on ITV as Harriet was arrested on Ali and Ruby's wedding day.

Neighbours' dramatic UK season finale episode brought in 652k (9.3%) at 1.45pm and 850k (5.5%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5.

Hollyoaks claimed 809k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with a battle to save Theresa's life at the hospital, while E4's first look followed with 534k (2.8%) at 7pm and 122k (0.6%) on +1.

Home and Away managed 220k (3.2%) at 1.15pm and 588k (3.5%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 378k (2.1%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.42m (20.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
