EastEnders shooting cliffhanger seen by 6.7m on Thursday

EastEnders topped Thursday evening's soap ratings (October 2) as Phil and Sharon's wedding day drama continued, overnight figures show.

The Walford drama pulled in 6.67m and a strong 35.0% share at 7.30pm on BBC One as the ongoing tension between Phil, Sharon and Shirley led to a shock shooting at the Mitchell house. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 349k (2.6%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale appealed to 5.74m (32.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 117k (0.6%) on +1 as Lisa suffered a shock health scare, while the audience increased to 5.97m (30.0%) at 8pm and 287k (1.4%) on +1 with the aftermath for the Dingle family.

Hollyoaks enjoyed a strong evening as Finn's trial reached its conclusion. 910k (5.5%) saw Robbie, Finn and Diane all take their turns to speak in court at 6.30pm on Channel 4, while Finn's verdict boosted E4's first look to 868k (5.0%) at 7pm and 209k (1.0%) on +1 - the best E4 rating since the Dodger and Sienna reveal on September 4.

Neighbours entertained 729k (13.0%) at 1.45pm and 887k (6.8%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Imogen's crush on Daniel left her in a difficult position.

Home and Away managed 198k (3.4%) at 1.15pm, 635k (4.2%) at 6pm and 319k (1.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.22m (22.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
