Andrea, Neil drama seen by 6.9m on Friday Coronation Street

Coronation Street was ahead in the soap ratings on Friday evening (September 26) as Andrea and Neil Beckett's storyline came to a head, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield drama brought in 6.92m (36.3%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 117k (0.5%) on +1 as Neil staged a rooftop protest at the Rovers Return in his latest desperate attempt to win back Andrea. The audience rose slightly to 6.93m (32.1%) at 8.30pm and 160k (0.7%) on +1 as Andrea's life was left hanging in the balance as a result of Neil's behaviour.

Elsewhere, EastEnders pulled back ahead of Emmerdale as 6.35m (31.1%) tuned in for the first part of Phil and Sharon's wedding day at 8pm on BBC One. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 414k (2.8%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale continued to perform well as 6.07m (34.0%) saw Robbie's death confirmed at 7pm on ITV and 150k (0.7%) on +1.

Hollyoaks attracted 704k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the aftermath of Sonny's showdown with the McQueens, while E4's first look followed with 682k (3.8%) at 7pm and 127k (0.6%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours interested 615k (9.5%) at 1.45pm and 653k (5.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away appealed to 233k (3.4%) at 1.15pm, 502k (3.4%) at 6pm and 389k (2.4%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.23m (19.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
