Coronation Street topped Wednesday's soap ratings (September 17), according to overnight figures, as Jim McDonald turned nasty.
6.28m (32.7%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 222k (1%) on +1, as Jim made it clear to Peter that he doesn't want son Steve to find out that he supplied the booze that almost killed the former bookie.
Emmerdale attracted 5.3m (30.3%) at 7pm on ITV, while 161k (0.7%) tuned in on +1 as Aaron was released from prison with a suspended sentence.
Hollyoaks appealed to 830k (5.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4, as Finn made his plea in court and Sam and Danny Lomax's killer was revealed in a shock storyline twist, while E4's first look followed with 810k (4.6%) at 7pm and 143k (0.7%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours was watched by 804k (13.3%) at 1.45pm and 778k (6.1%) at 5.30pm, as Ramsay Street dealt with the aftermath of the tornado.
Home and Away attracted 219k (3.5%) at 1.15pm and 574k (3.8%) at 6pm. 5*'s first-look aired to 377k (2.3%) at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors claimed 1.17m (19.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
