Emmerdale topped the soap ratings on Tuesday evening (July 1) but was once again dented by World Cup coverage, overnight figures show.
Airing against the Argentina vs. Switzerland game, Emmerdale managed 4.52m (23.9%) at 7pm on ITV as Moira continued to face a backlash over her secret. 262k (1.4%) caught the episode on +1 an hour later.
Hollyoaks and the teatime screenings of the Australian soaps were also up against the match. On Channel 4, Hollyoaks brought in 612k (3.6%) at 6.30pm and 118k (0.7%) on +1 as Cindy infuriated the villagers, while E4's first look entertained 568k (3.0%) at 7pm and 146k (0.8%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours managed 597k (9.8%) at 1.45pm and 595k (4.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away interested 190k (3.0%) at 1.15pm, 507k (3.3%) at 6pm and 268k (1.6%) with 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
