Coronation Street was boosted by the climax of the Maria and Tyrone storyline on Monday evening (May 19), overnight figures show.
7.66m (38.1%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 167k (0.8%) on +1 as Tyrone finally discovered that Maria was behind the malicious text messages. The show later enjoyed its highest figure of the month so far, bringing in 7.87m (35.7%) at 8.30pm and 281k (1.3%) on +1 as Maria faced the consequences of her actions.
EastEnders attracted 6.96m (33.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as John Partridge made a return appearance as Christian and Abi confronted Max over his fling with Lucy. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 387k (2.8%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale interested 6.04m (34.1%) at 7pm on ITV and 101k (0.5%) on +1 with the aftermath of Priya and David's baby arriving early.
Hollyoaks had its highest figure since March 26 as 1.08m (6.8%) saw Blessing continue to confide in Tony at 6.30pm on Channel 4. E4's first look topped the multichannel ratings with 728k (4.1%) at 7pm.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours interested 566k (10.0%) at 1.45pm and 764k (6.3%) at 5.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors appealed to 1.26m (22.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
