Coronation Street was the top-rated soap on Monday

Coronation Street topped a lacklustre evening for the soaps on Bank Holiday Monday (May 5), overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield drama pulled in 7.1m (31.4%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 110k (0.4%) on +1 as Lloyd suffered a heart attack while competing in a fun run. The audience increased to 7.2m (29.0%) at 8.30pm and 165k (0.7%) on +1 as Lloyd was rushed to hospital.

EastEnders attracted 6.81m (28.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as David made a tough decision after finding more evidence against Max. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 451k (3.0%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale interested 5.67m (27.6%) at 7pm on ITV as Eric, Val and Diane were all arrested, adding 179k (0.8%) on +1.

Hollyoaks had 847k (4.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with Sandy's worry over Jason, while E4's first look followed with 734k (3.6%) at 7pm.

Elsewhere, Chris's collapse in Neighbours was seen by 529k (6.3%) at the earlier time of 1.20pm on Channel 5, while 805k (5.5%) caught the episode at 5.30pm.
