Coronation Street stayed ahead in Monday's soap ratings...

Coronation Street topped Monday's soap ratings (March 24) with Tina and Peter's latest close call, overnight figures show.

8.44m (38.6%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 144k (0.6%) on +1 as David walked into the hotel where Tina and Peter had met up in secret. 7.99m (34.4%) returned at 8.30pm and 128k (0.6%) on +1 to see how the pair got out of the situation.

EastEnders shocked 7.23m (31.9%) at 8pm on BBC One as Stacey confessed to the police over Archie's murder. BBC Three is not airing a repeat screening for the show this week.

Emmerdale attracted 6.71m (32.8%) at 7pm on ITV as Donna faced more problems with Marlon.

Hollyoaks interested 1.11m (5.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Peri suffered a shock accident, while E4's first look followed with 806k (3.9%) at 7pm and 180k (0.8%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours continued with 597k (8.7%) at 1.45pm and 842k (5.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away had 240k (3.5%) at 1.15pm, 638k (3.6%) at 6pm and 462k (2.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.45m (21.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
