Coronation Street topped Friday evening's soap ratings (January 3) with David and Kylie Platt's reunion, overnight figures show.
8.42m (36.0%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 210k (0.9%) on +1 as Kylie's worrying behaviour put her children at risk, while 8.17m (33.2%) returned at 8.30pm and 208k (0.8%) on +1 as David convinced Kylie to give their marriage another try.
EastEnders also performed well as 7.72m (32.3%) watched at 8pm to see an emotional Johnny tell Mick the truth about his sexuality. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 351k (1.9%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale interested 6.99m (31.3%) at 7pm on ITV and 130k (0.5%) on +1 as Charity found a new way to frame Sam for the Home Farm fire.
Hollyoaks attracted 964k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Diane fell for Robbie's lies and reported John Paul to Patrick, while E4's first look had another strong showing with an audience of 828k (3.7%) at 7pm - the most-watched multichannel programme of the day.
