Coronation Street tops the midweek soap ratings...

Coronation Street was Wednesday evening's top-rated soap (December 18) but dipped back below the 8 million mark, overnight figures show.

The midweek visit to Weatherfield pulled in 7.64m (36.3%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 325k (1.4%) on +1 as Tina's flirting with Rob led to a kiss between the pair.

Emmerdale attracted 6.29m (31.4%) at 7pm on ITV as Cain returned and walked straight into a row with Moira, adding 178k (0.8%) on +1.

Hollyoaks had 1.04m (5.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Sienna was sectioned and Nancy was diagnosed with a brain injury, while E4's first look secured 747k (3.7%) at 7pm and 241k (1.1%) on +1.

Elsewhere, Kate's honesty over her feelings for Kyle on Neighbours was seen by 393k (5.9%) at 12.55pm on Channel 5 and 861k (5.5%) at 5.30pm.
