Coronation Street topped Friday evening's soap ratings (November 8) with the latest troubles for Roy and Hayley, overnight figures show.
8.96m (41.0%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 154k (0.7%) on +1 as Hayley learned that her friend Jane had passed away. However, the second episode of the evening proved less popular as 7.87m (34.1%) returned at 8.30pm and 203k (1.0%) on +1 to see Hayley struggle to cope with the sad news.
Emmerdale attracted 6.87m (33.8%) at 7pm on ITV as David discovered that Priya is expecting his baby, adding 155k (0.7%) on +1.
EastEnders interested 6.82m (30.4%) at 8pm on BBC One as Carl continued to pose a threat to the Beale family. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 381k (2.3%) at 10.30pm.
Hollyoaks appealed to 976k (5.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with the aftermath of Will's arrest, while E4's first look followed with 751k (3.7%) at 7pm.
On Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 679k (9.1%) at 1.45pm and 937k (5.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 237k (3.2%) at 1.15pm, 748k (4.0%) at 6pm and 482k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.58m (21.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
