Coronation Street topped Wednesday evening's soap ratings (October 23) as Roy and Hayley Cropper's emotional storyline continued, overnight figures show.
8.23m (38.0%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 475k (2.1%) on +1 as Hayley remained adamant that she will end her own life when she feels the time is right.
The episode also featured the off-screen exit of Chris Fountain's character Tommy Duckworth, who left Weatherfield after his girlfriend Tina McIntyre moved David Platt into their flat.
Emmerdale brought in 7.09m (35.1%) at 7pm on ITV and 385k (1.8%) on +1 as Cain planned a return to crime, adding 385k (1.8%) on +1.
Hollyoaks entertained 1.01m (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with its special 18th birthday episode focusing on Tony and Diane, while E4's first look had 669k (3.3%) at 7pm and 102k (0.5%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 618k (9.6%) at 1.45pm and 751k (5.3%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 246k (3.5%) at 1.15pm, 565k (3.3%) at 6pm and 425k (2.2%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.3m (20.0%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
