'Coronation Street' well above 9 million mark on Monday

Coronation Street soared above the 9 million mark with Monday evening's double bill (October 14), overnight figures show.

9.11m (40.7%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 152k (0.6%) on +1 as Liz McDonald returned and broke up a Rovers catfight between Tina and Kylie. The audience increased to 9.35m (38.0%) at 8.30pm and 199k (0.8%) on +1 as Kylie was shocked to find the DNA test results.

Emmerdale also performed well as 7.53m (36.4%) watched at 7pm to see killer Cameron put a plan into action following his escape, adding 203k (0.9%) on +1.

EastEnders enjoyed a boost in numbers too, as 7.35m (31.2%) saw Phil give Ronnie a big ultimatum at 8pm on BBC One. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 341k (2.3%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks attracted 996k (5.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Clare prepared to get her revenge, while a first look at the Hollyoaks Blast brought in 610k (2.9%) at 7pm on E4 and 106k (0.5%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 664k (8.9%) at 1.45pm and 838k (5.4%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 228k (2.9%) at 1.15pm, 674k (3.8%) at 6pm and 465k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors' special Jane Austen week kicked off with 1.49m (20.1%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
