'Emmerdale' tops Friday soap ratings

Emmerdale was Friday evening's top-rated soap (October 11) as almost 7 million tuned in for the fallout from killer Cameron's escape, overnight figures show.

6.98m (35.9%) watched at 7pm on ITV as Debbie received an update over Cameron's suspected whereabouts. 132k (0.6%) caught the episode on +1.

EastEnders, which faced tough competition from ITV's coverage of the England vs. Montenegro game, dipped to 5.31m (22.9%) at 8pm on BBC One as Janine was left fearful following Michael's attack. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 425k (2.7%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks attracted 884k (4.7%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Tom's scheme against Sienna failed to pay off, while E4's first look followed with 583k (3.0%) at 7pm.

Hollyoaks Later concluded with 357k (2.1%) at 10pm on E4, while 101k (0.9%) tuned in on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 619k (8.7%) at 1.45pm and 929k (6.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 258k (3.6%) at 1.15pm, 647k (3.7%) at 6pm and 389k (2.1%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.49m (20.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
