Emmerdale has Thursday's highest first-run figure

Emmerdale and EastEnders remained close in Thursday evening's soap ratings (October 3), overnight figures show.

Emmerdale had the highest first-run figure of the night as 6.65m (34.9%) watched Nicola and Jimmy's latest troubles at 7pm, adding 115k (0.5%) on +1. However, the audience dipped to 6.02m (27.6%) at 8pm and 305k (1.4%) on +1 for Laurel and Marlon's engagement.

EastEnders appealed to 6.5m (31.9%) at 7.30pm on BBC One as David tried to set Masood up for a fall. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 463k (3.2%) at 10.30pm.

Waterloo Road managed 2.7m (12.5%) at 8pm on BBC One as Audrey tried to deal with troublesome Lenny and Lisa.

Hollyoaks claimed 916k (5.0%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Danny's double life was under threat, while E4's first look had 573k (3.0%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours interested 664k (9.5%) at 1.45pm and 802k (5.5%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away mustered 257k (3.5%) at 1.15pm, 547k (3.2%) at 6pm and 356k (1.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.38m (19.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
