Corrie remains well ahead of its rivals in the soap ratings

Coronation Street was Monday evening's (September 30) most-watched soap as David's turmoil continued, overnight figures show.

8.6m (39.2%) tuned in at 7.30pm on ITV and 145k (0.6%) on +1 as Nick tried to speak at the hospital, while the audience increased to 8.86m (37.1%) at 8.30pm and 242k (1.0%) on +1 as a nervous David was forced to face his brother.

Emmerdale attracted 7.14m (36.3%) at 7pm on ITV with the aftermath of Jimmy's van crash, adding 115k (0.5%) on +1.

EastEnders mustered 7.02m (30.4%) at 8pm on BBC One as David and Masood began to clash over Carol. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 408k (3.0%) at 10.30pm.

Hollyoaks interested 910k (4.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Patrick tried to win back Maxine, while E4's first look had 580k (2.9%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 613k (9.3%) at 1.45pm and 839k (5.8%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 242k (3.5%) at 1.15pm, 663k (3.9%) at 6pm and 469k (2.5%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.33m (20.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
