Emmerdale topped the soaps ratings on Friday night (September 6).
Some 6.2m (33%) people tuned in at 7pm to see Cain help Adam flee from the police, with a further 157k (0.7%) watching on ITV +1.
EastEnders reached an audience of 5.7m (26%) in the 8pm timeslot, with 570k (3.7%) catching the 10pm repeat on BBC Three.
Hollyoaks attracted 940,000 (5.4%) viewers at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and topped the 1m mark when combined with those watching on Channel 4 +1 (150k/0.8%).
An audience of 580k (3%) caught the first-look Hollyoaks on E4 at 7pm (86k/0.4% on +1).
Coronation Street did not air on Friday due to the football, which saw England win a World Cup qualifier against Moldova.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours brought in 853k (6%) at 5.30pm (37k/0.2% on +1).
Doctors held steady with 1.5m (20.5%) at 1.45pm.
